1. Our Commitment
Emma Whitten Hair Studio is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards to make our website usable by the widest possible audience.
2. Conformance Status
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. WCAG defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. This website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA — some content does not yet fully conform; known limitations are listed below and we are actively working to resolve them.
3. Measures We Take
We support accessibility through: semantic HTML and ARIA landmarks throughout the site; full keyboard navigation with a visible focus indicator; descriptive alt text on portfolio and content images; clear, consistent navigation with a "Skip to main content" link; sufficient color contrast for body text and interactive elements; light and dark theme support so users can choose a comfortable visual mode; focus management on modal dialogs and the portfolio lightbox; and accessibility considerations in every new feature we add.
4. Assistive Technologies Tested
This website is designed to be compatible with recent versions of: NVDA and JAWS on Windows; VoiceOver on macOS and iOS; TalkBack on Android; and the latest versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. If you discover an incompatibility with another assistive technology, we want to hear about it.
5. Known Limitations
We are working to address the following areas: some auto-advancing carousel and dialog animations do not yet fully respect the user's "reduced motion" system preference; some touch targets on the portfolio carousel position indicators are smaller than the WCAG 2.5.5 recommended minimum (44 × 44 CSS pixels) and will be enlarged in the next accessibility update; some color combinations on translucent ("glass") card backgrounds are being reviewed and adjusted to ensure they meet the 4.5:1 contrast ratio in every theme. None of these limitations prevent core access to the site's information or services.

We aim to respond to accessibility feedback within 5 business days.
7. Formal Approval
This statement was prepared in accordance with the W3C Web Accessibility Initiative's guidance for accessibility statements. We review and update it whenever significant changes are made to the website and at least annually.
